Fall At Last framed hanger πŸ‚

Hi again! I’m always so happy for fall every year — school’s back, the weather is gorgy-porgy after the summer heat, it’s football time again — so I thought I’d create a crackly little fall decor piece, inspired by the leaves and pumpkins in my area these days 🍁 the best!

Let me take you through a few more details about how I created this hanger ⤵️

The Background…

Started with a mini framed panel, Ran mixed media heavystock through the Cracked 3D embossing folder, glued down on the panel and painted with Scorched Timber

Next, used Antiqued Linen paint to go over the raised texture with my finger, followed by a thin watery wash of Caramel alcohol ink

Also cut a few embossed strips for the sides of the panel

For the top hanger, I assembled a few jump rings, hook chains (minus the hooks) and screw eyes

The Pumpkins…

Cut from the colorize Pumpkin Duo, glued all layers together and painted with Antique linen + Scorched Timber stems

Added a top coat of clear crackle, then once it was dry, I rubbed on some scorched timber and rusty hinge distress crayon into the cracks and layer grooves

The Leaves…

Cut a bunch of leaves from the Funky Foliage die set

Painted branches with scorched timber, leaves with different reds and oranges and greens (Forest Moss, Rustic Wilderness)

Glued the leaves on the branches and coated all with clear crackle

Once dry, added Scorched Timber crayon on top with a brush, then wiped away the extra with a paper towel

The “FALL” Frame + “At Last” Banner…

Painted the small Ideaology frame (I forget what set this is from) with scorched timber to match the rest, then caramel ink

Next, I added mounting dots before cutting a piece of clear acetate to size and gluing behind the frame

Then coated with clear crackle…

Cut FALL letters from the Bold die set, painted with Antiqued Linen, then a coat of clear crackle, then scorched timber crayon, wipe away extra, painted letter edges with scorched timber to give extra definition

The banner is from the Tattered Banners set (folded on the one side to shorten it up), painted with Antique linen and Scorched Timber edges

The “at last” letters are from the Tiny type lower set, painted with Scorched timber and glued down on the banner, then all coated with a thin layer of clear crackle

The Finishing Touches…

Inked a couple of wooden rulers and added to the top and bottom of my panel

Then glued down the small frame, banner, pumpkins (with leaves) + a few other Ideaology bits before adding excelsior shavings (inked with walnut stain) and tucking in the foliage

Ok, well that is my project, thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you are enjoying this fall season and are able to cozy up with loved ones☺️🧣🍁

Happy crafting! x Erin

Boo! Ghosty mixed media tag πŸ‘»

Hey there, so glad you stopped by! Today I’m sharing an over-the-top spooky mixed media tag, jam-packed with Tim Holtz products and TONS of texture!
More details ahead! MWAH-HA-HA-HA 😈

The Background…
Started with a few cuts of the Sizzix Tangled Twigs dies and glued down on a medium thickboard tag (After seeing how bomb it turned out, I wish I would have used the larger tag so it was more visible - you know it’s a good background when you reallllly don’t want to cover it up! 🀀)

Next, I coated with white gesso and added a few random splotches of Texture crackle paste (plus thicker around the tag hole to help cover)

Then coated with a blend of Distress paints — Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters, and Black Soot

(I’ve said it before, but worth mentioning again… Distress paint is thinner in consistency than most, but the coverage/color is so rich, I’m obsessed with it! 🀭)

Went back over the top texture with black soot and peeled paint to add contrast… LOV-ING THIS πŸ™ŒπŸ»

The Frame + Ledge…
Used a frame from the baseboard frames pack and two scalloped trim thickboard pieces, painted with Black Soot, then used a palette knife to add a thick coat of crackle texture paste

Once dry, painted again with Black Soot, added hardware heads to corners

The photo of the girls is from one of the Halloween layers packs

Cut a little piece of clear acetate to go over the photo, added a few of my own cracks before gluing under the frame

Also used a few mounting dots to give my frame some elevation

The Ghosts + Letters…
Cut the ghosts from the Frightful Things Thinlits set, cut several sets of BOO! letters from the Bold Halloween Text dies and glued the layers together

Painted the pieces with Shabby Shutters, then added a thin coat of Rock Candy Clear crackle over the top

Once dry, painted a thin wash of Black Soot paint over the top to help highlight the crackle, then glued over the spider web (cut from clear acetate)

The Finishing Touches…
Time to add the bits to the ledge! Tried to capture most of my elements together before assembly:

For the little vial, I fill the inside with Peeled Paint embossing powder, painted the cork black, then added a skull remnant rub from the Halloween pack and painted on a thin layer of Rock Candy

Ok, there you have it, thanks so much for looking! Hope you’re enjoying the crisp chill of early fall, I know I am πŸ‚πŸ Happy crafting!

Dare to Dazzle mixed media panel

Hello! πŸ‘‹πŸ» Popping in to share this starry little mixed media piece I’ve been working on, “starring” πŸ™ƒ the Tim Holtz Dimensional Star dies and Star Trims 3D embossing strips. I loved watching the Olympics this summer and felt inspired to make a little something to mark the occasion πŸ‡«πŸ‡·πŸ‘©πŸ»‍🎨

Here’s a bit more detail about how this project came together πŸ‘‡πŸ»

The Background…
Started by cutting the Star Trim emboss strips from mixed media heavystock paper and gluing on an Etcetera rectangle panel (6x8.5in)

Sanded down the edges with a sanding block and painted with Uncharted Mariner, then more sanding before the wax! Planning the composition…

Next, added Mined wax highlights to the raised texture, stars, panel edges, and heat set. I also used two Caramel-inked screw eyes and chains (sans clasps) to make the hanger on the top edge. Tore up bits of collage newspaper to start adding some grunginess

Covered the collage paper bits, corners and random edges with grit paste, followed by Caramel ink

The Bottle…
Cut 2 chipboard pieces from the Bigz Bottled up die, glued the layers together and added the bottle details to the front (extra piece on bottle mouth, Star Trim and a metal Ideaology star for the center).

First painted with Antique Linen, but decided to go darker 🀷🏻‍♀️ so re-painted with Scorched Timber, followed by Mined wax highlights, grit paste and caramel ink

The Stars…
Cut 10-12 stars of all sizes from the Dimension Stars set and folded up. Covered some stars with Mined wax, some with collage paper, some Antique Linen paint… added grit paste, a Caramel-ink wash, and wire pieces down the middle of each

The Sentiment…
Cut “Dare to” letters from the Tiny Type Lower font out of heavystock paper. Cut DAZZLE from the Alpha Bold set (wanted these super thick so cut 6 sets of each letter and glued together)

Covered with Mixed wax, heat set, then added splotchy grit paste

Added Caramel ink on top and glued the letters on pieces of film strip

Used a Caramel-inked large hinge clip to hold the strips. Added the black clipping stickers (from the Metallic sticker book) to an inked memo pin and tucked in the side of the clip

The Finishing Touches…

Lots of other little bobs and bits in the ledge layers… gritty scalloped trim pieces, metal ruler, gears, film strip, clothespin, etc…

Added more excelsior shavings in a few spots, along with more grit paste and Caramel ink in random places + those teeny-tiny stars for extra sparkle ✨

Also added a few “Paris” and “24” little Easter eggs 😍

And THAT is my razzle-dazzle project, thanks so much for looking!
And go Team USA LA28! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ☺️

Happy crafting!
x Erin
