Grungy Poinsettias Tag

Hi crafty friends šŸ‘‹šŸ» hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving holiday! šŸ—šŸˆ Thought I’d share this grungy green and gold holiday tag I made using Tim’s Seasonal Sketch dies and lots of Statue foundry wax + Caramel alcohol ink. Especially loving the dimension of those poinsettias though šŸ«¢šŸ˜ sooo fun!

Here’s a few behind-the-scenes of how this piece came together ⬇️

The Background…

I first cut a bunch of flowers and leaves from the Seasonal Sketch set out of Tim’s heavystock paper, then used collage medium to glue them down on a medium etcetera thickboard tag

Next I painted it with Rustic wilderness and used my finger to rub Statue wax to the raised textures before heat setting

The Frame…

I decorated a small lace baseboard frame pretty much the same as the main background, by gluing on some flower and leaf cuts, then painting with Antique Linen and adding Statue wax highlights to the top. Sealed with a thin layer of collage medium and added a few splotches of Caramel alcohol ink to the edges to grunge it up a bit

For the frame middle, I first took a small piece of heavystock paper and thickly coated with Statue wax, then heat set… Next I added my remnant rub phrase and twinkles directly on top of the Statue wax layer and sealed with collage medium

When it was time to glue my waxy cardstock piece under my little frame, I decided to add a piece of clear acetate in between, then added hitch fasteners to the corners for extra height

also added a couple large, alcohol-inked hardware heads to the corners of my frame, propped up on a small mounting dot

The Flowers and Greenery…

I cut more of each of the Seasonal sketch dies from heavystock and glued 2 layers together for extra shape-ability šŸ¤ŒšŸ»

I coated with collage medium, then painted some flowers with Antique Linen, some leaves with Rustic wilderness and fully covered the remaining flower and leaf cuts with Statue wax

I covered some beaded berries with Statue wax, heat set, and stuck through the center flower holes. I wound up the remaining wire stems underneath and added a gold flower piece to the wire bunch.

The Finishing Touches + Gluing…

Some last little Ideaology details + a few extra snaps of my gluing sequence šŸ“ø

DEC stencil chips… first trimmed them up, then added Statue wax to each and heat set, added some splotches of Caramel ink too to match the frame center … Wanted these letters under my frame, so they were glued on my background

Next I glued down the frame with collage medium

Paper doll family and trees… from the ____ set, trimmed them up a bit and added a wash of caramel alcohol ink over the top… glued a few (inked) mounting dots to the backs before adding to the frame

Cheer type chips… Glued my type chips together, slightly overlapping, then added Carmel ink and some Statue gold highlights

Christmas sticker book phrases… for the top phrase, I covered the word cheer with Antique Linen paint and added caramel ink and Statue wax highlights , I inked a nail and poked it through the paper and securely into the background

December + 25 remnant rubs…

Added some collage medium + caramel ink in a few spots and dripped some extra caramel on my flower centers

And that’s my project walk through! Hope you found an inspiring tid bit or two ☺️

Thanks so much for looking and happy holiday crafting! šŸŽ„❤️

x Erin
