Hello hello crafty friends! Was feeling so inspired by these gorgeous late-summer nights, so finally scratching my Tim Holtz itch! I made this glossy leafy panel with tons of texture and vivid colors, I do hope you like it 🍁☺️
Check out that gloss 😳
A few more details of how this project came together 💥👇🏻
The Background...
Started with a 5x7 thickboard rectangle panel and glued down a bunch of leaves cut from the 3D Impresslit Leaf
Left the collage medium a bit chunky in some places for extra texture
Painted with a base coat of gesso and Black Soot Distress
Decided to trim the edges all flush, um why is this so slick ✂️😱
Painted over the black with this warm gradient... just, yesssss 🎨😍
Lightly inked the raised background, composition check-in (still deciding what colors I want the leaf/words to be)... The white needs to be more yellow 🧐
Next, my fave part— couple layers of ground espresso archival ink over the top of the texture to really make the leafy outlines pop 🍿 Thin coat of Glossy Accents! Also punched a hole in each corner with my crop-o-dile, then added the eyelets and hinge clips/chains for the hanger
The Text Elements...
First, covered a quote chip with a piece of heavystock paper embossed with the Foliage 3D folder.
Cut 2 sets of "the" from "together" in the Handwritten Love font set, painted one set Ground Espresso, one set Antiqued Linen
Used the Ideaology Typography 2024 letters to spell out CHANGE, painted the edges with ground espresso. The letter fronts are painted with antiqued linen with a caramel alcohol ink gradient. Glued the letters over a clear acetate strip
Assembled all pieces and glued over some cheese cloth bits, also added the "Lesson 175" clip from the clippings sticker book
The Leaf...
I cut several pieces of chipboard with the Bigz die, glued the layers together. Also cut one leaf from a leafy-embossed heavystock piece...
Covered with a generous coat of matte medium and Antiqued Linen distress paint...
Painted the edges with ground espresso and then used my finger to rub it over the raised texture
I decided to add a bit of red paint to the center to tie in with the background. Next, I shaped my leaf and added a few inked chains, then glued it down over some bits of Espresso-stained cheese cloth
And that’s my creation! Thanks so much for stopping by and happy crafting 💕
